Rajneeshpuram, Poona, India

They came from all over the world to this Ashram in India to “find themself“. Indian Guru Shree Rajneesh, called Bhagwan fed them a mixture of Eastern philosophy and Western New Age psychotherapie. The most attractive message to the young Western visiters was: sex is good. But nothing was free. Every lecture, every “wisdom“ had to be paid. But it was a wonderful, magical place nevertheless. The money was flowing in and the “advisers“ to the old Guru became greedy and arrogant. 100 Rolls Royces were given to him. The end came of it all came at their exile in Oregon. Photographed on assignment for German magazine QUICK in 1979 in India and again in 1982 in Oregon.
