Who is Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva?
Jizō - Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is one of the six important Bodhisattvas of Mahayana Buddhism. The remaining five are Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, Great Bodhisattva, Van Thu Bodhisattva, Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, and Maitreya Bodhisattva.
The Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva (Sanskrit: Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva - Japanese: Jizo) is often called the Bodhisattva of hell beings, because the Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Mantra in sanakrit - Om ha ha ha vismaye svaha “will not attain Buddhahood until hell is completely empty”.
Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is a great compassionate Bodhisattva who takes a huge vow of greatness. He is the lord of the hell realm. Only the deity can master the realm of ignorance, that is, to own one’s own realms of greed, hatred, and delusion.
