Huge 1870s Gold Mine, Massive Stopes, Colorful Minerals, Killer Views ⛏️

For this mine explore, we visit a gold/silver mine that was discovered in the 1870s. Copper and lead were secondary metals that were mined here, as well. Major production took place from the early 1930s into the 1950s. There is a well-defined quartz vein that runs 6 to 10 feet thick where the gold and silver were mined. There are also massive stopes throughout the underground workings. A large ore bin was constructed at the top of a very steep hill. This bin was a collection point for the ore coming from a few different parts of the mine. To assist the trucks getting up to the ore bin to load the ore, a cable road was made. This consisted of a large winching system that is housed below the main ore bin, which helped the trucks up and down the steep hill.
