ATACAMEX lander reaches 25,000 feet off Chile

The University of Concepción produced this video documenting the January-February research expedition to the Atacama Trench off the coast of Chile. The trench is one of the top 10 deepest in the world. The DOV Audacia, designed by former Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego engineer Kevin Hardy, reached a record depth of 8,081 meters (26,512 feet) on one of three dives.
