Eddie Rickenbacker’s Raft, an Updated History Guy Episode

Known as the leading American air ace and most decorated U.S. soldier of the First World War, Eddie Rickenbacker required a different kind of courage when he and the crew of a B-17 had to ditch in the Pacific Ocean in October 1942. It is a harrowing story of survival at sea. Originally produced in March 2018, I have since discovered quite a lot of extra footage of Rickenbacker that I did not have when the video was first produced, including footage of the rescue. Clips from the the USAAF training film “Ditch and Live“ have also been included. This is original content based on research by The History Guy.
