Sarah Jarosz, “Little Satchel,“ // GemsOnVHS™

Don’t ever let it be said that Sarah Jarosz isn’t the real deal. Incredible banjo playing aside, she is also 100% down for a trek through the sweltering Tennessee countryside to hang with some cows. We took off to my buddy Briar’s property, Ouchonder Farms, in the Elmwood region, on what turned out to be the hottest day ever in July. Dodging rattlesnakes and sweating our asses off, we hiked up the hill to find the livestock. Briar had to make sure his flock got fed, and we had to entertain them with some old time songs. Biblical levels of scenery here, and Sarah was down to get some dirt on her boots to do it. I’ve been a long time fan of Sarah’s music; she is a professional through and through, a torchbearer for old time music and a great writer in her own songs. When our friend Yitzi connected the dots, I was and continued to be honored. This is just one of those special moments. I’m proud to be able to bring my eyes and ears to her incredible music. It was so fucking hot tho
