Crossed-Handed Thrust with the Longsword - Marozzo’s Primo Assalto #7

Thrusting with crossed hands with a Longsword is not an easy technique, but in this drill Achille Marozzo (1536) actually gives us some sound advice to make it a proper threat. In this video series we are going to learn Achille Marozzo’s Two-Handed Swordplay. Here, we will have a look at the seventh part of his Primo Assalto, the first series of techniques. They are great because you can train these with a partner or on your own. Marozzo was an italian master of the 16th century, writing down his techniques in his book “Opera Nova“. I use the translation by Jherek Swanger. Marozzo’s Two-Handed Sword (= spada a due mani) might also be known as a Spadone, Montante , greatsword or Schlachtschwert. These are pretty much regional terms for the same weapon.
