Tracey Kirkpatrick murder confession telephone call

In 1989, 17 year old Tracey Kirkpatrick was murdered in the small town of Frederick, Maryland while working late at night and alone in a retail store. Three months later, someone used a pay phone in a Safeway supermarket near Frederick to call a Las Vegas nationwide “confession hotline“ and left a message, claiming to be her killer. The police believed that the recorded confession was authentic and provided copies of the recording to local radio stations, asking them to broadcast the confession simultaneously at 9:15 a.m. on a Thursday, the first anniversary of Tracey Kirkpatrick’s death.
