Marxist theory: affecting cultural diversity in the digital media era?

May 5 is the 199th anniversary of Karl Marx’s birth and 2017 marks the 150th anniversary of the publication of the first volume of Marx’s great work, Das Kapital, the most extensive statement of his ideas published in his lifetime. Decades ago, Marxism provided guidance for China to go from its foundation through to the reform and opening-up. Will Marx’s theories need to draw new ideas or theoretical frameworks to guide the development of China in the years ahead?
