“In Earliest Britain“ (1931)

Full title reads: “Aldershot. ’In Earliest Britain’. One of the magnificent spectacles of this year’s ’always wonderful’ Tattoo in aid of service charities.“ Aldershot, Hampshire. Scenes of a mock up performance of ancient Britain. In front of a thin scenery version of Stonehenge a man dressed as a druid acts out a human sacrifice in front of an audience of followers dressed in ancient costume. The ancient warriors turn and see a Roman galley (travelling over the grass of the Rushmoor arena) coming towards them. Fighting ensues between ancient Britons and Ancient Romans. Shots of costumed Romans in parade. Lots of togas, chariots and legionnaires. N.B. All part of a historical pageant for the Aldershot Tattoo. The costumes aren’t very realistic and we can see cars in the background, spoiling the effect. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV.
