Merry May (1934)

Full title reads: “MERRY MAY - Dainty & pretty Festival at Elstow.“ Elstow, Bedfordshire. A boy in top hat is raised over crowd of children - he announces arrival of “The Queen“. Crowds are gathered at the Village Green for the ceremony of crowning “May Queen“ - this is traditional way to celebrate the arrival of spring. Queen and her entourage walking slowly surrounded by crowds - mostly children. Queen is a young girl in white dress with a long veil. Veil is held by two small girls also in white. There are several more girls in white behind them. All the girls have white blossoms in their hands. Crowds looking on. Queen sits on the throne bedecked with flowers and she is crowned.
