Handlers (1929)

No title. Men at work in a timber yard. “Today our Docks are using slick machines which transport, handle and sort timber as fast as the ships can land it - “ High angle shot of machinery which moves planks of wood around the yard. “Every piece distributed to its proper place in these Surrey Docks.“ A piece of wood slides down a conveyor belt contraption. Panning shot of a large warehouse where many machines are at work moving planks of wood around. We are then shown another “toil-saving“ idea - this time for bricks. A lorry is reversed up to a pile of bricks and three men help to guide a box like contraption over the bricks. The lorry then lifts up the box of bricks with a pulley system. The box slides on to the back of the lorry. Shots of this from various angles. Shot of the lorry driving off from the depot. Was an item in Pathe Pictorial issue number 601.
