Cement Mermaids Aka Model Mermaids - Cp 033 (1955)

Dockett Eddy Point, Weybridge, Surrey. C/U of a bright blue mermaid’s tail. Pan up to show two life size mermaid statues - they are made of concrete and they are fabulous! L/S of the mermaids which are situated on the banks of the River Thames at Weybridge. The sculptor Bernard Jepson is at work on another statue and a real life model lies on the grass by the river’s edge as he works on it. M/S of Mr Jepson painting the mouth of his new mermaid - fab! C/U of his model who wears a strange orange swimsuit. C/U of Mr Jepson and his mermaid. He used to be a magazine illustrator but has now turned his hand to sculpture. L/S of the patio of Mr Jepson’s home. C/Us of some of his other figures including two Spanish women with gorgeous frilled skirts and off the shoulder blouses. L/S of Mr Jepson’s “Japanese Garden“ which is popular with younger neighbours. M/S of a young girl and boy who walk onto a little curved bridge to look down upon a Japanese woman statue. She appears to be looking into the river.
