Recording 32 steps on the Monotribe using Flux mode. The synth part of the Monotribe is controlled by the Keystep via CV/Gate, using an adapter into the Sync In port. Sync Out from the Monotribe goes into Keystep Sync In. Keystep’s clock is set to Sync In via switches on the back and the time division knob is set to 1/32.
In this example I’m recording a familiar 4-bar sequence of eighth notes. The first step is to slow the tempo on the Monotribe down to 1/4 of the desired speed, at around 30 BPM in this case. After programming the drums, the 32-note sequence is programmed on the Keystep. Once that is done, set the proper transposition, start playback on the Monotribe and press the record button. Get ready to start the Keystep on the right beat and let it play all the way to the end of the pattern, then stop the Keystep. Press the record button on the Monotribe again to stop recording and it’s done.
