Typhoon Haima brings Hong Kong to a standstill

Hong Kong’s weather agency issued a No. 8 Northwest Gale or Storm Signal at 6:10 a.m. HKT on Friday as Typhoon Haima edged closer to the territory. Transport and public services were brought to a standstill. It is the first time Hong Kong has issued a typhoon signal No. 8 in October since 1995 - the region’s typhoon season runs mainly in summer.
