China Implements Gallium Export Controls, Prompting US to Resort to Gallium Recycling from Scrap!

According to media reports, the US Department of Defense plans to sign its first contract with a US or Canadian company for the recovery of gallium by the end of this year. Gallium is a mineral used in semiconductors and military radar. On July 3, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and the General Administration of Customs announced that, in order to safeguard national security and interests, exports of gallium and germanium, two critical metals, would be subject to export controls from August 1, 2023. Earlier this month, when asked about the stockpiling of these two critical metals, a spokesperson for the US Department of Defense revealed that while the US has a strategic reserve of germanium, it currently has no stockpile of gallium. “China Focus“ is a YouTube channel created to provide current events and pop culture headlines from you can get to know a more real China through my video. | #ChineseNews #chips #ChinaFocus Thanks for your watching and subscribing.
