DoDonPachi DaiFukkatsu Black Label - Hibachi & Zatsuza (No-Miss, No-Bomb)
Clear of Hibachi and Zatsuza without dying or using any bombs.
Hibachi and Zatsuza are the True Last Bosses of the game, which require you to meet certain conditions before you can face them at the end of the game.
Requirements for reaching the bosses:
Hibachi
- Do not die more than once in the first 5 stages.
- Do not use more than 2 bombs in the first 5 stages.
- Kill all bosses in the first 5 stages with a full Red gauge (max rank).
Zatsuza
- Must play Strong Style.
- Do not die at all including the EX stage.
- Do not use more than 2 bombs in the first 5 stages.
- Kill all bosses in the first 5 stages with a full Red gauge (max rank).
Basically the biggest change from Hibachi to Zatsuza is that Taisabachi actually matters now.
Zatsuza is significantly harder than Hibachi, all the patterns are significantly buffed.
Zatsuza is also harder to no-miss because there is no way to refresh your hyper/bombs through deaths before the fight, as the condition is no-miss. You go into the fight with the hyper/bombs you have.
Type A is by far the best to use for these bosses.
It does the most damage and can do the most damage from afar, which is especially good for the finals.
The first two patterns have a weird thing where the boss doesn’t shoot bullets at the top of the screen when the rank is really low.
By far the biggest thing that stands in the way of the no-miss on Zatsuza is the second pattern.
You can’t safespot it like you can on Hibachi and it’s nigh undodgeable. The lasers shoot aimed revenge bullets at you now, which will block your path. This pattern has eluded me for quite some time.
A lot of science went into figuring out a way to deal with this second pattern.
It -is- possible to do it with only a few hypers/bombs, but it’s extremely luck-based.
First of all you need the laser bits to start aiming upwards instead of downwards. This can be done by misdirecting them up, but it doesn’t always work. If the bits are aiming downwards the no-miss is 100% impossible.
The bit ring can rotate either clockwise or counterclockwise. Clockwise can be dodgeable, but most of the time it isn’t compared to counterclockwise.
Besides the rotation, the exact location of the bits is also always slightly different, making it so there are a looooot of different variations you can get.
On top of all of this, the boss also moves around randomly and can get extremely in the way. Their hitbox also extends above their sprite, so it’s very easy to ram into him.
It’s extremely difficult. It doesn’t help that you can barely even see the revenge bullets up there because they’re being blocked by the HUD.
You need a hyper/bomb to get in and a hyper/bomb to get out. With Type A you can use another hyper/bomb in the middle of it, which makes it significantly less luck-based. I time when to move in and out by cues in the music.
The beginning part is by far the hardest. Once the laser bits have rotated upwards enough, there should be less stuff being fired at you.
A lot of stars need to align in order for the Zatsuza NMNB to happen. There are at least three 50-50 coinflips that need to go in your favor for this to work.
- The rotation of the laser bits like described before.
- The blue bullet waves at the end of the pattern can also either go clockwise or counterclockwise. You likely won’t have enough time to switch sides and it’s hard to tell which direction it’s going in before it’s too late.
- The purple lasers on the third pattern can either spawn on the left or right first. You NEED these to spawn on the left if you start at the left. Unlike Hibachi, you can’t just change sides because the aimed blue waves are significantly denser.
The fight is very much a damage race to beat the first phase before the lasers come from both sides at once on the third pattern.
For Zatsuza it needs to die before you have to turn around. I got a bit lucky there.
You really need to pointblank as much as possible to squeeze in more damage. When you’re in the safespots for the first and third patterns you also want to aura with the edge of your ship to get more damage in. For Zatsuza you actually need to stick as close to him as possible on the first pattern to seal laser bulllets.
The blue bullets on the finals are revenge bullets from shooting the lasers back. You want to not shoot your laser until right before the enemy lasers are about to hit you.
This reduces the amount of bullets you have to dodge by a significant amount for the first few seconds.
I swear to god the boss hitbox feels like this:
00:00 - Hibachi
01:30 - Zatsuza
