WCML Avanti Diversions and more at Barthomley Level Crossing 4/9/2022

Barthomley crossing, close to Alsager and next to Barthomley junction. It’s situated on the line between Kidsgrove and Crewe. Seems like a weird place to see 390s, but they go through here once or twice a day, usually late at night. The line used to be double track until June/July 1985, during BR’s remodelling of Crewe. The track that exists now would have been the southbound line; there would have been another track approximately where I was standing. The line was electrified around August 2003 I believe. Northbound trains (coming from the direction of the house) go at around 50mph through here, whilst southbound trains (coming from around the bend) go at about 60.
