Taken off her eponymously titled first solo album, ‘Lies’ is Asha Puthli’s second cover of a J. J. Cale song (the famed American guitarist, singer, and songwriter). Equally the acid jazz classic as ‘Right Down Here’ (her other J. J. Cale. cover), Asha’s ‘Lies’ adds booming horns, funk swagger and her powerhouse vocals to Cale’s original – a mix of folk, shuffling country blues, and rock ‘n’ roll about a forlorn lover caught in a tangled web of cheating and deception.
