SPIDER ANTS Digging The Nest

The red-head spider-ants (Leptomyrmex erythrocephalus) are found in Australia. They are very fragile: just like lizards and stick insects they are autotomic. This means that if you catch them by the leggs, they will lose them to escape your hands. Nests are usually hard to find and these ants are extremely rapid and hard to record, this is why I really wanted to share this short sequence.
