Jotta Herre - Penina 1969 (Paul McCartney) with Lyrics.

This is the original version, by the band Jota Herre (Aníbal Cunha, Rui Pereira, Carlos Pinto e José Carlos Flamínio), to whom Paul gave the song after he played with them on a December night at the Penina Hotel bar, where Jota Herre were the usual band. Paul and Linda went to the hotel to exchange British Pounds for Portuguese Escudos and then sat at he bar. Paul was invited by the band Jotta Herre to play with them. They played for about two hours. Paul didn’t play bass, he played the drums. At the end Paul wanted to give Jotta Herre a gift and sat at the piano and composed this song. And please, this is the real lyrics (not what you find on the web filled with looney verses). Even the brazilian Aggeu Marques sings some ludicrous verses on his version. Penina, Penina, Penina, one night. I’ve been to Albufeira, I had a good time there. then I came to Penina and found good friends. Penina, Penina, Penina, one night. Penina, Penina, Penina, one night. drinking liquids, making music, love has come to my heart. beat the drums, take me home, help me* friends, free my soul. Penina, Penina, Penina, one night. Penina, Penina, Penina, one night. time has come, time has gone, time to bed, forgive me friends. take my arm girl, let’s go home, thank you all, love from Paul. Penina, Penina, Penina, one night. Penina, Penina, Penina, one night. Penina, Penina, Penina... *one version states “helping friends“
