Te Rakau - E Papa Waiari (Maori Stick Game) Basic Version

Ti Rakau is a very popular stick game that many children in New Zealand have seen or performed at some point in their lives and is great for building co-ordination skills. Here, my daughter and I demonstrate our easy version . It’s been a long time since I used to perform this in school concerts and I’m surprised that it has come back to me. I’m even more surprised that I’m still able to catch the sticks in mid air. The next challenge will be the double throw.
