Andrey Tyarin - Architecture of Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces: from Design to Implementation

Abstract: Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (RIS) is a promising technology that can increase the capacity and coverage area of existing and future wireless networks. To achieve these aims, current RIS prototypes are designed using miscellaneous architectures, sometimes even antithetical. However, existing review and experimental papers usually do not explain the specific RIS design choice. The seminar will consider the main structural elements of RIS, their principles of operation and their impact on the functionality of RIS. It will also be described in detail how to build a RIS prototype to achieve certain tasks. Bio: Andrey Tyarin received a bachelor’s and master’s degree in applied mathematics and physics from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) in 2019 and in 2021 and continues his postgraduate studies. He has been working at the Institute of Information Transmission Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IITP RAS) since 2021. His research interests include RIS, EM wave p
