EPISODE DESCRIPTION
Comanches were the dominant force in Texas in the 1830s. Their abilities as warriors on horseback made them a nightmare for settlers on the Frontier. Encroachment on the land of Comancheria cost the lives of thousands of Spanish, Mexicans, and Texans. Comanche raids resulted in death, destruction, and led many to be captured. One of the captured was a 14 year old girl named Matilda Lockhart. When she was taken in a Comanche raid, the government in the young Texas Republic raised a company to fight a punitive expedition and get her and the other captives taken back.
When the Texans strike back at the Comanche a cascade of violence falls. Both groups continuously become more violent and aggressive as attempts at peace fail and the blood-feud between the Texans and Comanche escalates.
