Korngold’s violin concerto recorded live on April 10th in Graz, Austria with conductor Patrick Hahn and Recreation Orchestra at the HELMUT-LIST-HALLE at the openning evening of PSALM Festival 2022 organised by Styriarte & Co. Erich Wolfgang Korngold was a musical prodigy, composing his first major work (a ballet!) when he was 11 YEARS OLD. 🤯 He fled to America in 1934 as a Jew during the rise of the Nazi regime (his house in Vienna was eventually seized by the Nazis), where he began writing Hollywood film music. 🎬 Over 16 movie scores were composed by him, and this violin concerto was written in 1947. Widely regarded as Korngold’s most famous work, all 3 movements of this violin concerto are based on themes from his film music composed between 1934-1937.
