Kadri Gopalnath was born on 6th December, 1948 in a humble family in Panemangalore, Karnataka. Maestro Kadri Gopalnath found himself exposed to music at a fairly early age being the son of Smt. Gangamma and Sri. Thaniyappaya who was a Nadhaswaram Vidwan himself. Gopalnath had to make certain modifications to the conventional alto saxophone to play Carnatic music.
