Bangladesh opposition leader Alamgir detained after antigovernment rally
At least two people have been killed and hundreds injured in Bangladesh’s capital, as security forces fought with opposition protesters.
Police have detained the leader of the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party.
The BNP wants the government to step down and hand over power to a caretaker administration, ahead of general elections in January.
