“Choose Your Universe“ by David Rosenboom, playing NS Designs 5-string e-vioviola and modular electronics, was recorded in a concert by the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, Electric Strings Ensemble, directed by Rudolf Haken, in the Music Building Auditorium, on October 7th, 2022. This was part of David Rosenboom’s G.A. Miller Residency, Collapsing Distinctions—building possible worlds in art-science convergence.
In his writings on Propositional Music, David Rosenboom describes a method of composing that always reaches back to an important principle for each new beginning, which asks, “What will be the domain of distinction and thought from which the means for delineating the entities in this work that will receive compositional attention and choice making may emerge for each musical action?” This process of continuous beginnings belies the very idea of style.
