Orson Welles on Watching Too Many Films

Orson expresses his repugnance for cinematic homages, and is baffled by how the next generation of filmmakers have seen so many films and make good films at the same time. For me, the most interesting part of this is when, after saying: “I don’t want to see another homage in anybody’s movie“, he adds: “there are enough of them which are unconscious“. The “unconscious“ bit in particular is quite relevant today.
