Born in 1959 in Columbus, Ohio, Monaco began playing the accordion at a young age before discovering the Hammond organ in his teens. He was deeply influenced by jazz organists such as Jimmy Smith and Jimmy McGriff. Monaco’s career took off when he was discovered by jazz guitar legend
