The Unthanks perform ’Magpie’ | 2021 International Festival

The Unthanks perform Davey Dodds’ ’Magpie’, taken from their 2015 album ’Mount the Air’, live and backstage at the 2021 International Festival. This Northumbrian folk collective is fronted by sisters Rachel and Becky Unthank. Their work focuses on traditional English folk styles, using them as a springboard for experimenting with a wide range of genres over ten albums. Defining themselves as having ’restless eccentricity’, since forming in 2004 their music has evolved, playing around with rich, soaring harmonies and bringing oral histories to life.
