Iran Freaks Out Over Actress’ Kiss on the Cheek

Iranian actress Leila Hatami got a kiss on the cheek from Gilles Jacob, the president of the Cannes Film Festival. After that, all hell broke loose. Iran’s deputy minister of culture and Islamic guidance lashed out at Hatami, saying that the Iranian woman should be “a symbol of chastity and innocence.“ Leila Hatami has since issued an apology to the people of Iran, saying that Gilles Jacob “had forgotten the aforementioned rules, which comes with old age.“ Have you had to apologize for something that you didn’t think was wrong?
