Mudras

Mudra in Sanskrit means “seal,” “gesture,” or “mark.” Yoga mudras are symbolic gestures often practiced with the hands and fingers that facilitate the flow of energy (Prana or Chi) in the subtle body. Different fingers are also associated with the five elements. Thumb represents Fire, second finger represents Air, middle finger represents Space, Ring finger represents earth and little finger represents Water In Chinese medicine the meridians may begin or end in the fingertip (e.g. large intestine meridian) or the thumb (e.g lung meridian), so pressure here can assist and balance the flow of Chi.
