Full title reads: “Alnwick, Northumberland. celebrates the advent of Lent with Centuries’ old football game.“ Alnwick, Northumberland. A group of men, led by a man playing Northumbrian pipes, walk through the grounds of what is probably Alnwick Castle. They are handed a football by a man. They continue marching on. They march out of the Castle gates where a small crowd have gathered. A large group of men and women are walking along the road. High angle shot of people walking across field. Large number of men playing what appears to be a very free form and rough game with a football. The ball is forced around what appears to be some form of goal, covered with leaves. A man is wading through a river with the ball. He is being watched from the far bank by a small crowd. He throws the ball and then begins to swim after it.
