Radio Doctors (1956)

M/S in a tiny office as a man answers a buzzing phone saying “Emergency Call Service“; C/U as he makes notes on a message pad saying “Sutton.... the doctor will be along... goodbye“ (although this seems to be natural sound I think it was dubbed on later as we don’t see the man’s mouth!). M/S in a waiting area of a doctor sitting and reading a magazine, while another checks equipment in a medical case. Commentator: “This is the Emergency Call Service in action - a new idea, the first of its kind - it is a service by doctors for doctors that is already benefiting patients all over London“. The doctor takes a slip of paper from the man in the office through a glass partition and walks out; M/S as he walks down some steps outside the flat in Fulham where the service operates from, gets into his car and drives off. We are told the team of ’radio-doctors’ who are studying or specialising by day, answer night time and Sunday emergency calls to allow overworked GPs to get some sleep. M/S of the doctor arriv
