Burning Rope Escapologist (1959)

Buxton, Derbyshire. Alan Alan performs a daring stunt with a burning rope. He hangs upside down in a straight jacket - from a petrol soaked burning rope. The stunt is carried out as part of the annual convention for the International Brotherhood of Magicians being held at the local Pavilion Gardens. The shots are taken from a high angle and show Alan hanging in mid air, struggling out of his bonds and then once free, being lowered, and the burning rope is put out. There is a very prim looking older woman spectator with glasses and grey upswept hair. Note: The commentator says that Pathe tried to film his last attempt 5 years ago.
