Beatnik Jewels (1964)

Hampstead, London. C/U panning across several pieces of quartz and crystal. Various shots of artist Gerda Flockinger as she creates some very modern-looking pieces of jewellery; here she fits chunks of quartz to silver chokers. Several shots show Gerda’s skill at enamelling; she paints onto a circular disk, then heats it in a small kiln on the table; the enamel changes colour as it is heated. Sitting around a coffee table is a man and two women wearing some of Gerda’s “cocktail time creations“; the man wears the enamel disc - now a cufflink; one of the women wears a modern silver necklace with a long pendant of several stones. The other woman wears a silver ring with a large amber (?) stone. Cuts exist - see separate record. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV.
