Racehorse’s Mascot (1958)

Findon, Sussex. Exterior. M/S of a row of stables next to an old farmhouse. Six race horses are being lead past the stables by stable boys. Low angle shot of the leading stable boy being helped onto the back of a chestnut racing horse by a man in a flat cap. M/S of Tommy Winters leading a dark brown horse named Canardeau out of the stables. The horse is followed out of the stables by a sheep. The narrator comments “well,hello - that one’s a bit small on the small side, isn’t it?“ Low angle shot of Tommy being helped onto the dark brown horse. C/U of the horse whinnying. C/U of the sheep. The narrator quips “no, it’s not an experiment in breeding racing sheep!“ M/S of the stable hands riding the racehorses around the corner of the stables. M/S of the horses trotting down a rough country road lined with cottages. M/S of Canardeau being ridden along the road. Galway the sheep ambles along at the horse’s side.
