“Goodbye Miiverse“ | A Tribute (Loading Theme Cover)

“Goodbye Miiverse” is a musical tribute to Miiverse’s legacy, and my way of saying thanks to Nintendo for the experiences I’ve had on the site and the friends I’ve met through it. A couple weeks ago I was curious if anyone had ever made a cover of the Miiverse loading theme, and unsurprisingly no one had. I figured out the main melody by ear on my keyboard, at first content with simply that, but then I had the sudden idea to create the whole cover for a tribute video. I’d been looking for an opportunity to create my first “real” (don’t look up my past attempts, they’re dumb) video game music cover for about a year now, and this was my ticket. I had this big, silly vision in my head of a mock memorial service, where I dress up and play the organ and sob in the middle of my piece. I’m happy that I carried this idea through to the end. Figuring out the entire track by ear went surprisingly smoothly, and I thought it was pretty nifty how I was able to get all the instruments to sound. Painting up th
