Caprices (2014) not standing / Alexander Vantournhout
Caprices is a physical interpretation of the music of Salvatore Sciarrino. Its particular sounds find their counterpart the powerful language of movement that Alexander Vantournhout has developed as a dancer and acrobat. As meticulous as Bach’s fugues, his composition transcends the genres of circus and dance. Befriending danger as well as virtuosity, timelessness and alienation, he unexpectedly alternates from extreme exuberance to ironic minimalism – equally whimsical as the music.
