1966 “An Evening With Walt Disney“ Walt’s Last Filmed Appearance

Follow Me, Boys! is a 1966 family film produced by Walt Disney Productions. The film premiered at Radio City Music Hall at Rockefeller Center in New York on August 24, 1966. On October 27, 1966 Walt recorded an introduction for an invitational showing of the film. The introduction was to be titled “An Evening with Walt Disney“. Walt explains that he could not introduce the film in person because he was in the middle of shooting Blackbeard’s Ghost. Walt takes time to mention “The Happiest Millionaire“ and highlights a sequence of the film. He concludes the film mentioning a 15 year old Kurt Russell, which Walt predicts will have a great acting future. Follow Me, Boys! went into general release two weeks before Walt Disney’s death on December 15, 1966. Due to the tragic event of Walt’s death, “An Evening With Walt Disney“ was not shown.
