Olympic Champions in Practice: WAACKING on Ice ft. Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron

2022 Olympic Gold Medalists, French Ice Dancers Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron practice their Rhythm Dance at an early season rehearsal in September 2021. The season’s theme for the program was ’Street Dance’, and Papadakis and Cizeron chose to incorporate ’Waacking’, a dance style formed in the LGBTQ nightclubs of 1970’s California, into their program. Gabriella and Guillaume went on to win the Gold Medal at the 2022 Beijing Olympic Games the following February, setting a World Record with their ’Waacking’ inspired Rhythm Dance. Gabriella and Guillaume train at the Ice Academy of Montreal. Their Rhythm Dance was choreographed by Axelle Munezero, Kim Gingras, Samuel Chouinard, and Marie-France Dubreuil. The music is a medley of John Legend, mixed by Hugo Chouinard. The video was filmed by Jordan Cowan of @OnIcePerspectives.
