Sweden rejects power line to Germany
Expectation: The 700-megawatt Hansa PowerBridge mega project with a budget of €600 million was supposed to connect the Swedish and German energy markets.
Goal: to ensure the supply of renewable electricity from the Scandinavian countries to Germany - an additional impulse for the energy transition.
Reality: Stockholm and Energy Minister Ebba Busch, in particular, are rejecting the project in favour of the country’s interests.
Reason: “We cannot connect Southern Sweden, which is experiencing a significant deficit in electricity production, with Germany, where the electricity market is currently operating inefficiently.“
