Xyl - Star’s End (1987, Progressive Electronic)

Xyl is Chuck Van Zyl, a Philadelphia electronic musician and founder of the ambient music radio program Star’s End, which has been active since 1976. This release is his final under the Xyl name, distributed through Lights Out Recordings. If the name sounds familiar to you, it’s likely because Chuck has worked with Peter & Tom Gulch of The Nightcrawlers in a side project called Xisle, which also leans into long ambient soundscapes like their other works. In fact, Peter Gulch was the engineer for this album and re-released it in 2016 on his Synkronos Music label.
