Please Please Me - The Beatles - Full Instrumental Cover
Starting off my “Please Please Me“ album with a bang!
Please enjoy this first in a series of covers of the entire “Please Please Me“ album! This is my first cover using my new 1962 Gibson J-160E, and my first mix with Waves Abbey Road plugins. Both are VERY new to me and I’m still getting used to both, but I think I did okay for my first attempt!
I studied video of live performances fairly extensively for the guitar parts. John used a particularly unique strumming pattern that I don’t think I noticed before, using two downstrokes and two upstrokes instead of the typical alternating pattern. I wonder if this was a quirk that made it easier to play while singing? I think I hear it on “There’s a Place“ too, which has a similar tempo and structure. Regardless, it’s very clear in the Ed Sullivan video that this is what he’s doing in the verses. George’s part is also really wonderful, following the melody closely with some adroit, fast
