M3.4 Solar Flare and Large CME (2/10/2024)

An eruption registering as an M3.4 solar flare was observed off the southeast limb at 03:54 UTC (Feb 10, 2024). A large coronal mass ejection (CME) is also seen emerging in updated LASCO imagery. Perhaps not as fast moving, this latest solar eruption appears to be larger in scope as compared to the X3.3/CME event observed yesterday on Friday, Feb 9th. Because this is a limb event, the CME should be mostly headed away from our planet. It is also possible that fast moving particles blown outwards from this event could add to or even prolong the ongoing (S2) radiation storm in progress. More to follow via
