Preludio Criollo by Rodrigo Riera, performed by Daniel Petrocelli

This is one of the most important and popular pieces in the Venezuelan repertoire for classical guitar. Preludio Criollo was composed and lately published in 1963 by the prolific Venezuelan composer and guitarist Rodrigo Riera, who dedicated this emblematic piece to his teacher Raul Borges. This is indeed, a jewel of the universal repertoire for guitar, and certainly one of my favorites. I recorded this video in the beautiful island of Saint Lucia at one of the historical venues called Meadow’s Battery 1898.
