Couple Living in a Beautiful Floating Home on a Peaceful River – Full Tour & How It Works

Jade and Tim decided to live on a float home because it was the perfect compromise between wanting to live close to nature and needing to live close to the city for work. Their home is a modern and minimalist black two-story home that sits on top of a floating foundation made with styrofoam encased in plywood. The home is 30’ long x 20’ wide, and the float is 40’ long x 20’ wide (the size of a standard float home slip). You can follow and find out more about Jade, Tim, and Yoggu Foods here: Their journey began 3 years ago while they were living together on a small trawler-style motorboat. Their moorage (marina rent) was at risk because any new float home arriving at the marina would have forced them out of their spot. So they hired a boat house (boat shed) builder to build a simple float home shell, and then they finished the interior with the help of friends and family (it helps that Tim is a plumber by trade).
