Kicking the Shield - Realistic or Bad Idea?

The infamous Sparta Kick has been used in Dark Souls, Assassin’s Creed, and a number of other video games as a guard breaker or stun attack. How well would an attempt to kick an enemy shield work in a real historical duel? In this demonstration we’re taking a look at centergrip shields, as used by Vikings, Celts and Romans for instance.
