Hemingway was a journalist before becoming a novelist; after leaving high school he went towork for The Kansas city star, as a cub reporter. In the summer of 1933, Hemingway traveledto Africa for a three-month safari. In 1940 Hemingway purchased a home outside Havana, Cuba. He would live there for the next twenty years, fishing and writing. He Won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1954. On the morning of July 2, 1961, in Ketchum, Idaho, took the hunting rifle andshot himself.
